COUTURISM
COUTURISM is a KMAC shop initiative curated by Julia Comer. It will run in conjunction with the KMAC Couture 2022 event in Louisville, Kentucky. The exhibition is designed to create awareness of local, regional, and international artists and designers who create wearable objects outside of mainstream conventions.
Each original piece I created for COUTURISM replicates elements of living organisms from our planet’s diverse biomes. The work is hand printed with PLA bioplastic and then embellished with various materials, many of which are naturally foraged, found, and/or recycled. I always intent to minimize my impact on the environment. Each piece is unique and asymmetrical much like us, and attempts to bring the translucency and bioluminescence of the deep sea to the surface.
Art worn by Claire Nelson and Erika Margaret.
